Bethmannpark
Anyone traveling in downtown Frankfurt will tend to overlook this 3-hectare park. It is located just outside the green belt of the former ramparts around the historic old town and is bordered by busy streets. Its name goes back to the von Bethmann family, who acquired a garden outside the city walls in 1783 and used it as a patrician garden (garden of a wealthy bourgeois family). The park was redesigned several times depending on the spirit of the times, and in 1953 the upper class private park became a municipal show and educational garden for plant lovers. Still in the times of the Bethmann family, a winter shelter for camellias had been built, which is known today as the Orangerie. There, a "plant doctor" offers information and help on caring for plants and treating plant diseases. The highlight of the park is a Chinese garden created in 1989 by Chinese experts, the "Garden of Heavenly Peace"
